With the recent announcement of the Honda and GM partnership, some drivers might be curious about what that might mean for Acura. Acura will be done with hybrid models and switching their gears to focus completely on all-electric vehicles as they aim to continue providing performance-focused premium vehicles. Currently, they expect more than 50% of sales to be from EVs by 2030 and possibly even more than 60%. Learn more about the upcoming Acura electric vehicle and the rest of the lineup below.
The first Acura electric vehicle in North America is rumored to be called the ADX, which is expected to be released alongside the 2024 Honda Prologue. While it will draw some design influences from the Prologue, it will still have that distinct Acura look that feels right at home alongside other models at your local Acura dealership in Des Moines and Waterloo.
This electric Acura SUV will also possibly share the Ultium battery that is key in the lineup from the Honda and GM partnership. In fact, it’s reportedly produced in Tennessee at a former Saturn plant, alongside the Cadillac Lyriq. You will also find some shared technologies from the partnership, including a version of GM’s Super Cruise driver-assist system.
While Honda’s overall goal is to reach carbon neutrality on a global basis by 2050, they are also expecting 40% EV and fuel-cell sales by 2030 as well as the complete phaseout of internal-combustion engines in its North American lineup by 2040. However, Acura EVs will hit the market much faster than Honda, so you can expect to find multiple options from Acura soon in Cedar Rapids.
