How to Change the Battery in an Acura Key Fob

How to Open an Acura Key Fob and Change the Battery
The steps for replacing the battery in your Acura key fob will differ depending on if you have an Acura Smart Key or an Acura Keyless remote. Regardless of which remote you have, you’ll need a CR2032 button cell battery replacement. This battery can be found at most Waterloo stores or online. Once you have your battery in hand, follow the instructions below for your key fob:
Acura Key Fob Replacement – Acura Smart Key
- Press tab, remove metal key
- Use the metal key to pry open the fob via the opening the metal key came from
- Pop out the old battery with a small screwdriver
- Insert the new battery with the positive (+) side facing out
- Press the key fob back together until you hear two clicks
- Return the metal key back into its slot
- Snap back together the two halves of the Abura key fob
Acura Key Fob Replacement – Acura Keyless Remote
- Remove the metal blade key
- Use a standard (flat-head) screwdriver to gently pry open the fob
- Slide out the two batteries
- Insert the new batteries
- Snap back together the two halves of the Abura key fob
