Acura Maintenance Codes: Oil Life Indicator

How this system works is by monitoring the engine, which will help coordinate oil service dates and other maintenance check-ups. You should be able to see the engine oil life on the information screen as well as any notifications to replace the engine oil or to get regular engine maintenance done. Displayed as a percentage, the oil life indicator gradually drops over time as the miles add up. The oil life is determined accurately with various factors, including speed, engine temperature, ambient air temperature, time, and vehicle use in the Waterloo area!

Decoding Acura Service Codes

Besides the oil life indicator, you will also see a letter and sometimes a number on the information screen on your dashboard. These are known as “Main Codes” and “Sub Codes.” When your Acura is due for service, a Main Code will always be displayed, so you can know exactly what services your car needs. Sometimes, a Sub Code will be displayed alongside the Main Code if there are more specific details that you need to know. Get familiar with the meanings of these codes below or in your owner’s manual.

A Replace engine oil, perform multi-point vehicle inspection
B Applies to one or more of the following: Replace engine oil and filter, perform multi-point vehicle inspection

Sub Codes

Description
1 Rotate tires, check tire pressure and condition
2 Replace air cleaner element, replace dust and pollen filter, inspect drive belt
3 Replace transmission fluid
4 Replace spark plugs, replace timing belt, inspect water pump and valve clearance
5 Replace engine coolant
6 Replace rear differential fluid (if equipped)
