How to Check Your Car Battery’s Voltage
During the chilly winter months of the year, it is not uncommon to find that your car has a dead battery in the morning. You can keep tabs on the battery’s life by checking it. To do this, you need a voltmeter.
Turn off your car, and make sure its lights are off. Connect the voltmeter’s red terminal to your battery’s red or positive terminal. Connect the voltmeter’s black lead to the battery’s negative terminal. If the voltmeter’s readout is 12.4 or higher, your car battery has a good charge. If it is lower than 12.4, it is time to get a battery replacement. Remove the negative battery lead then the positive lead.
If your car’s battery has low voltage, visit us at Acura of Johnston. We have a range of replacement batteries available for same-day installation.
